3rd year Cultural tour

Rain didn’t stop the 3rd year learners from having their field trip last 19 November in Miag-ao, a historic town 23 kilometers away from Iloilo City.

The first stop of the cultural tour was Barangay Cagbang where from afar one can see the hanging bridge over the pristine stream. Not many people knew it but the Barangay is home to the town’s pottery-making industry. Taking the opportunity, the learners and the facilitators tried to make their own pots.
 the 210-year-old Miag-ao Church The next destination was the UNESCO -accredited World Cultural Heritage, the 210-year-old Miag-ao Church, which is also known as Santo Tomas De Villanova Parish Church. Learners were able to take a peek of the church’s tunnel. The tunnel was used as an escape route towards the sea during the Spanish era. Just a few minutes from the church is Barangay Indag-an where the learners witnessed how cloth was weaved in the most traditional way using a simple loom.

Climbing the 133 steps of the College of Fisheries left them literally breathless. The learners also enjoyed posing with the iconic Oblation of the university.

A Perfect Treat

The sophomore learners had their educational tour on October 22, 2007. It was after the second quarter exam when the group went to the different towns of Iloilo City to relax at the same time to learn.

Their fieldtrip included some of the exciting spots in Mandurriao, Sta. Barbara, Cabatuan. Located In the northern part of Mandurriao, they visited a workshop engaged in pottery making. After that they had a brief stroll at the Eco Park in the town of Sta. Barbara, then took their lunch at the Iloilo Golf and Country Club which happens to be the oldest golf course in the Philippines.

Pre-school Learners Visit Museum, Coca Cola Bottlers

Learning is much more fun outside the classroom. ISA Preschool learners had their field trip last 25 October to Santa Barbara Centennial Museum, Coca Cola Bottlers and CPU Butterfly Garden. Each place brought different learning experiences to the learners.

The learners were arranged into groups as the tour guide, Ms. Romela Toledo, introduced to them the history of Santa Barbara. Inside the museum, learners had a glimpse of things used by our ancestors. Things used in wartime, like old helmets, water jugs and weapons were also on display.

The last place the learners visited was the Butterfly Garden inside the Central Philippine University Campus. They asked many questions when they saw a caterpillar coming out from the cocoon and later turned into a beautiful butterfly.
