Purpose-Driven Mentors: A Seminar
"Why did I choose to be a teacher?" was one of the questions that made the facilitators ponder. The answers are anything but uniform, yet they can be summed up into "to touch the children's life" and "to share what I know to the next generation".
"Purpose-Driven, Renewed Mentors" was the theme of this year's seminar conducted by Mr. Rolly Remitar for the ISA facilitators last 4 May 2009. A purpose-driven mentor is a person with a dream and a vision of what he wants to happen in his class, blended with persistence, enthusiasm, courage and focus. The seminar serves to reassure the ISA facilitators that the reward for being dedicated and committed educators is simply great.
Anyone can teach, but it takes a purpose-driven mentor to chart the course.
ISA's Multimedia Classrooms A Revolution versus convention
Innovative thinking has accompanied ISA in her journey since the day of her inception. Convention has never effectively contained her revolutionary fervor in search of educational system to answer the call of time, particularly in terms of classroom interaction.
The school takes pride of having installed ALL classrooms with multimedia facilities and gadgets this year. Classrooms are fully equipped with LCD projectors to provide the best possible learning experience to her learners.
The use of hard copy visual aid is history at ISA. Still shots and video presentations are done using the latest software available. Multimedia classroom setup unleashes the creative ingenuity of the facilitators, builds the structure to satisfy the multiple needs of learners with varied intelligences. Another advantage of the MCI+ is that, with access to internet, real time world events could be experienced right in the classrooms. This is something traditional classroom can never provide.
MCI+ is truly a turn away from the conventional method of instruction. It is our way of tuning in to the demands of the IT age. By any measure, this is another important milestone in ISA's journey as she continues to move on to a brighter tomorrow.
