ISA Alumni Share College Experiences

ISA's mission is to nurture graduates who could render greater service to the Motherland. Last 4 January, high school learners spent an afternoon with the 3 ISA alumni who are presently pursuing their studies in two prestigious universities.

Sunshine Elizabeth Do and Harlene Lu of Class 2009, both from De la Salle University, shared their views on how to be truly prepared for college and what to expect from the professors in this prestigious university. In the end, the three encouraged the ISAers to do their best NOW in order to be better prepared to face the challenges in their soon-to-be college life.

Bright Lights, Big City

Bright Lights, Big City is the theme of this year's ISA Junior-Senior prom. The prom held at Hotel Del Rio last 29 January started with the photo shot of the learners followed by the program which started with the opening remarks by Ms. Beulah Gerada- Villaruel.

Aside from the dance number performed by the 3rd and 4th year ISAers, invited band from PAREF West Bridge also entertained the learners with their partners from other schools during dinner

Various awards were given that evening. Karl Francis Chan of 4th year Rizal bagged the Best in Etiquette, Head Turner, and Dancing King awards, while Haydee Que, crowned as the Prom Queen, bested other girls in her white and black gown to capture the much coveted

Haydee Que and her partner, Paulo Tirador who is from West Bridge, won the Couple of the Night Award. Thea Elyza Uy of 4th year Rizal won the Best in Etiquette and the Dancing Queen awards.

The party concluded with the closing remarks given by the fourth year adviser, Ms. Gay D. Belvis.

   

 

ISA Board, Faculty and Staff celebrate X'mas with a twist

School uniforms were put aside for a night to give way to tuxedos and cocktail dresses. School ground was turned into a festive place as members of the Board, facilitators and staff celebrated Christmas on 18 December.

Officers of the ISA Parents Association were also invited to the celebration.

To mention some, there were the trustworthy award, early bird award, comical story teller award, darling of the faculty, yes-man award, among others. There was also a special award given to the star of the night --- the facilitator or staff who really stood out among all the others. This special award was given to Miss Queenie Bem Dilag, an English facilitator.


Facilitators of each department also showcased various cultural numbers.

One of the highlights of the party was the giving of the door prizes and of course, the exchange of gifts. A brief fireworks display concluded the evening's event.

 

Directors of AdMU-Confucius Institute Visit ISA

Dr. Ellen Palanca, Director of the Ateneo de Manila University - Confucius Institute and Associate Director Professor Zhang Shitao visited ISA on 16 February. They were warmly received by ISA Executive Director Mr. Peter M. Chan and the ISA faculty.

After a brief observation of the Kinder 1 English class, the visitors and Mr. Chan engaged in a constructive and lively discussion on the current state of the Philippine Chinese education at the Office of the Executive Director.
   

 

Sophies' Recollection

The second year learners, with their adviser Rodgen Jabor and Writing facilitator Cleah Mae Bendaval attended a recollection at the Holy Rosary Retreat Center, Calumpang last 9 December.

The sessions were facilitated and supervised by Sister Fidelis, principal of Assumption Iloilo. This year's recollection centered on how aware were the learners of themselves, evaluating their relationship with their family, and the values they have learned from their family, school and community.

Said Sister Fidelis at the concluding session in the afternoon where parents joined their children giving chances to the learners to share their thoughts and feelings, and what they want to be in the future.
